Charity Event on 29 March 2008

Dear Fellow Alumni,

We would like to reach out to you to participate in our first charity event for 2008.
The University of Melbourne Singapore Alumni would be collaborating with SISGC (Soroptimist International of Singapore (Garden City) ) and the Geylang West Community Club (CC) on 29 March for an outing to Sentosa for the severely disabled. 

The 40 participants of the event are residents/ disabled members of public who are receiving financial aids from the CC. The two clubs will be sharing all the cost and logistics. There will be about 40 disabled and 40 volunteers to help them around.

Below are the details and we would like to appeal to you to join us for the event. To date, we will require about 20 more volunteers.

Event: A visit to Sentosa (includes Songs of the Sea, Sentosa 4D Magix)
Date: 29 March 08
Timing: Afternoon

About the organisers

Soroptimist International (SI) is a worldwide organization for women in management and the professions, working through service projects to advance human rights and the status of women. The organization has more than 3,000 clubs worldwide and over 90,000 members. For more information please visit www.soroptimistinternational.org. 

The first Soroptimist club (Soroptimist International of Singapore) was started 22 years ago. Its club SIS (Garden City) was chartered in November 2006. Though the club is new, but it had done serveral projects, among which are raising funds for the Java Earthquake, children''s party for about 200 needy children with Cairnhill CC, bursary awards for disadvantaged children and also hair cutting for the elderly residents at the Sree Narayana Mission Home, a monthly on-going project with about 20 volunteers.

The Geylang West CC has organised various activities for the disabled in the past.
